This will allow for more efficient processing of passengers who have unaccompanied baggage. As of February 1 hard copies of the ‘yellow form’ will no longer be issued to passengers, Customs said in a release.
It said that notwithstanding the procedural change passengers 18 years and older will still receive their US$500 duty free allowance on personal and household effects not for resale or commercial use. This change does not affect how Customs deals with the application and validity of the allowance, the release said.
“It is important that passengers with unaccompanied baggage indicate this to the Customs Officer prior to the examination of their luggage,” it added.
In addition, passengers must present their passport/receipt received from the kiosk in the immigration hall at the airport at the point of clearance.
